Magic Number 3 Points

To Determine the Magic Number:

  1. Take the Number of Games remaining for the Chasing Team, subtract it from 82 (total games in a season)
  2. Take the Difference, Multiply by 2 (possible points per game)
  3. Take the Product, add to Number of Points for the Chasing Team.  This is the Chasing Team's Total POSSIBLE points.
  4. Take this Sum and subtract the Number of Points of the Leading Team.
  5. That is the MAGIC NUMBER.
