Dad Wins Ken Dorsey Jersey

Hollister, CA (12/18/2004) - After 30 years of being a season ticket holder, our seats were picked as a winning prize during the 49er Home game vs. the Washington Redskins.  Midway through the third quarter, a ticket was announced to win a Christmas gift.  Dad was busy talking to his friend, and I was drifting off when I saw the winning seat on the scoreboard.  I lazily followed where the seat was.  I looked to my left and saw Section 32.  Then I looked to the right and saw Section 30.  You have to know that in Candlestick Park (aka 3com, aka Monster Park) that one side is all even numbers and the other is odd numbers.  But then they announced the rest of the seat location.

"All I heard was Row 20, seat 12, and thought 'Hey I know someone who sits in that seat'" Dad explains. "I quickly turned to Scott and asked, 'What section did they say?'"

"I told him, Section 30," I replied, "then dad says, 'we're in section 30!' I looked down and saw people standing up and looking at us.  After that we scrambled to see if we were in the right seats.  And lo and behold we were!"

"Of course now I had to find the ticket.  and by accident I had given Scott my ticket, so he had the winning ticket." dad explains, "so he kindly gave me the ticket and I waved it around."

Near the end of the third quarter, a 49er Rep came up and handed Dad an autographed Ken Dorsey Jersey.  I had hoped it would be a Gold Rush cheerleader, but it was some guy instead (see "sorry dude, but you're a dude").

In this dismal 49er Season, there was finally something to cheerful for.
