Week of Jan 1 - Jan 7

Uh Recovery day. Happy New Years. Partied till the sun came out. Whew. I spent the rest of the week trying to set my body back into the correct timezone...

Sharks played Wednesday and WON. then I went on Saturday vs Columbus. Columbus is a rough physical team. They dont have alot of "talent" but they work hard. Their top player Nash was out with injury. A few notes from this game:
1) Official sucked. I never heard of these guys and I hope I never hear from them again. They missed calls all night and called imaginary calls. Nothing bigger will be from the gaff they made which allowed the sharks to score 2 power play goals on 1 penalty. One Shark (Clowe) and One Blue Jacket got penalties at the same time. so they skated 4-on-4. then a Blue Jacket got another penalty. so that SHarks were on PowerPlay 4-3. They scored! so they let out a Blue Jacket... the WRONG blue jacket. the players with matching penalties stay in the box. But NO the refs let the first guy out. Coincidentally they let Clowe out and the Sharks are on the Power play again! They score. Second period starts the Refs apoligize to the Bluejacks for screwing up. Luckily the game was decided more than 1 goal, otherwise there could have been a protest to this game.
2) Hat Tricks: Ryan Clowe has stepped up. 2 goals the game before and a hat trick this game. Also note: Erhoff got a Gordie Howe Hat Trick: A Goal, an Assist, and a FIGHT.
3) WE CAN'T SEE!!! during the 2nd intermission was a junior Sharks game, but these people would not sit down so we couldn't see the game. So I started chanting "We can't see! We can't see!" then was "Sit down! [Clap clap] sit down [clap clap] "Which turned into "you are deaf! You are Deaf!" but no one was cheering with me so we missed the entire "game". I got some compliments from other people for trying.

I've been on a Modding roll. For (what seems like) years, I kept telling Matt, Bring your Xbox over and I'll fix it. So he finally did. I opened it up and couldn't fix his chip, so I onboard fixed it. But I needed his original HD so I was screwed. But Nick had an Xbox that needed modding too. He had one that was modded but a blown power supply. And he had one that was not modded and needed to be. so I pulled the non-modded and modded that one. But something was still wrong with it. The mod worked but I didn't know what else was wrong. So I (on a hunch) put the modded'box's harddrive into my newly modded box. BAM it works. Nick was happy...
The next day I took Matt's Xbox back to him and put in his old HD. BAM it's modded. I updated his apps and now he's happy.

Matt told me of his plans. He wants to upgrade his entire Entertainment System. He's going all out. an HD TV, Multimedia Computer, 2TB (terrabytes) of hard drive space and a PS3. He wants to use the 2TB to store all his movies and mp3s. Essentially he wants an Xbox with Xbox-Media-Center with a huge Hard Drive. it sounds good but I can't even put a price tag on it.

And that's that for this week.

Grand Theft Auto 4 My Ideas

At E3 Rockstar announced that they will make a Grand Theft Auto 4. Of course there is a lot of speculation on what this will be about. I have my own ideas and some good ones.
Lets change this all up a little. Instead of a male character, it should be a female character. I mean think of all the things that open up with a female character. Uh, I mean, it’s a different angle that can be done with a female character. Lets call her Ashley, because I like the name (All my custom female characters are named Ashley).
The game would start out as 20-year old girl. You can select what nationality, race, hair color, eye color, etc. And while you can change this during the game, it changes how people react to you. If you’re hot, people check you out and want to be around you. If you haven’t showered in 3 days, people are running from you.
2 years into college, your parents cut you off and now you don't know what to do. So you up and move all your stuff to "Rockstar North". You can decide to go to school or go to work. How would you pay for school? Or where would you work?
She could have stuff like “Manipulate the system” where she can manipulate people by looking cute and sexy. Then men will buy them drinks and stuff. She’ll have to go to bars and get picked up by men who lay the dumbest pickup lines to the suave men. Then you decide if you want to screw him or screw him over. Or you could let it develop into a relationship or not. And of course, after you screw him over, you can GTA his car. If you feel like he’s screwing you over, you can take his car and crash it, then return it to his driveway. Or maybe Key it, or scratch it with his golf club or something.
In the same aspect of GTA:SA, Ashley will still have to go to the gym and do that stair-master. Also has to do sit-ups and stomach crunches and stuff. She can get muscular; then she is more accepted at tougher bars. Or she has to feminine sexy and go to dance clubs. Also from GTA:SA, there’s buying outfits and clothing: Sports attire, clubbing attire, etc.
No there won’t be any “Soccer Mom” things. But you could do stuff like: Work the strip club. Or Work the street corner. Missions will come from different “pimps”, who decide what you do, who you do, or who to rob and kick the snot out of.
Eventually you’ll work your way up to a gangsters’ call girl. You visit clients and act pretty, and make/deliver drinks. Manipulate the clients to give you money. Till finally you reach the big boss gangster (Mrs. Soprano). Then you have to bump off the former Mrs. Soprano and become the big boss’s woman.

Behind every great man is a great woman.
Sometimes many great women. Just not at the same time.

Tetris DS hits the Nintendo DS!

One of the best portable games comes to the Nintendo DS. Let me just say it is pretty good. Overall the game is the same, put little blocks in lines and eliminate the lines. But they made new modes for the game. While those are nice and dandy, actually really good modes for single player, the game REALLY excels multiplayer.
I haven't done local multiplayer game which can have 10 people playing at one time. I have done the Wi-Fi gaming. With Wireless networking the DS goes out and finds opponents around the world. THis really excels in the game. it is really awesome.
There is the one-on-one game, then there is a 4 player game, where you can use items like mushrooms and turtleshells to mess up the other person's blocks. Then there is Push. (Push is a single player game too.) it is like Tug-o-war. You build lines. Every time you get multi-lines it pushes all the block closer to your opponents's line. when they cross the line with blocks then it ends and you win! It has taken some time to get used to it, but I'm enjoying it.
4 out of 4 stars! Tetris DS rules! Its Fun kicking people's asses around the world!
Too bad there isn't voice over (aka smack talk) like Metroid Prime Hunters has. hahahaha. that'd be great!

X-Men: Return of Apocalypse

I haven't talked about Comics lately so I want to touch on the upcoming Return of Apocalpyse storyline.
Apocalypse is one of my favorite villians. "Survival of the Fittest" If you are weak, you are not fit for his new world.
Way before House of M. Apocalypse merged with Cyclops during "The Twelve" story line. Then Cable and Jean Grey were able to split Cyclops from Apocalypse. And without a body, Apocalypse was eliminated from existance. Fast Forward, Cyclops's attitude changed, Jean Grey eventaully dies (again), And Cable, with a purpose (to kill Apocalpyse), roams around meeting up with other characters such as Domino, X-Force, and recently Deadpool.
After house of M, Apocalpyse is BACK! and he's gathering troops as his horsemen. He captured one person name Glazer. And then he convinced Sunfire (who recently lost his legs) to become a horseman. And a rumor is that Gambit will be converted to a Horseman as well. Pestilence has already been chosen and is running amuck.
In Addition he knows that there are only a few mutants now, and they must be filtered for the strongest.
A side story involves Apocalpyse vs Dracula. That should be interesting how that works out.
Apocalpyse is supposed to destroy many things about the X-Men. Many Foundations will be tested.
I think this will be a great story comin in. So I hope it lives up to the hype. The big one was Gambit becoming a Horseman. That sucked in alot of people to see what happens with the X-men.

Marvel Video Game Month!

Marvel Comics has gone wild! Check out the games it has released this last month:
  • The Incredible Hulk: Total Destruction - Looks like a really good game where everything is breakable and hulk going nuts breaking stuff
  • X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalyse - I love this game! Pick a team of 4 X-Men/Brotherhood and fight Apocalypse!
  • Marvel Nemisis - A streetfighter type game, spiderman, Ironman, and Thing and others fight a bunch of cyborg-ed up, characters trying to take over the world!
  • Ultimate Spiderman - Be Spiderman... or be VENOM! Gotta love that!
Only Nemisis looks kinda weak, however I'm still going to check it out. All the games have high marks. Maybe Marvel finally figured it out how to make good games!
You probaly won't see me for a week. I'm trying to beat X-Men Legends 2!

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Hot Coffee

Everyone playing a video game has probably heard about this one. Briefly, GTA:SA can be modded with "hot coffee" so that there is a small mini game that involves having cartoon sex with another character. GTA's maker Rockstar Games and developer TakeTwo, finally admit that the mini game was programmed in but was taken out of the game. It is the result of some hacker in Europe that found it and modded it and released it. Now everyone is really upset and GTA:SA has been pulled from shelves. The game rating is being changed. And now Take Two is being sued.
Here's my take: The gaming industry has changed because of Modders and Hackers. We can now take the available games and change them, making the game more playable and replayable. I do not think it is Take Two's fault. They did what they could to take the scene out of the game. But it is others that have exposed and re-wrote the game.
Oh by the way... the person suing Take Two is some mother who bought her teenage son the game to play. HELLO! is she paying attention to what this game is about? Someone should sue her for buying a game for adults for her teenage son. Good Going Mom...
JUST OUT: The Sims 2 is under fire because of a nudity mod in there too.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance...

But just for the record... my GTA is Hot Coffee

Halo 2 Defeated!!!

Quan and I did it. After about hours on hours spanning across 4 weeks, we beat Halo 2. I must say it s a good game, however the ending REALLY sucks. We worked so hard and was so into it, however it pulled a (spoiler moment) BACK TO THE FUTURE at the end of the game. Now we ll have to wait 5 years for Halo 3 to come out. But it was awesome, playing as the covenant and having the sword. Multiplayer is where it s at. So continue on Master Chief (or Arbitor)

Nintendo DS is MINE

Thanks to Noah, I got my Nintendo DS. Its awesome! The demo of Metroid is hella crazy. The touchpad is really accurate in 1st Person Shooters. and the 1st person multiplayer wireless play is awesome. Right now, the games don t fully take advantage of the system. but I m sure there will be some great games coming down the line. But it s still good! you can play your Gameboy SP games on it, and your Flash Carts. So the advantages are still there! Just don t sell your SP yet! You need it to flash it. I can t wait!
