Superman Returns!

Just got back from Superman Returns. And let me say that it is a great movie. Its up there with Spiderman 1&2, X-Men 1&2, The original Superman, The original Batman, Batman Begins. Not Daredevil, Hulk, Fantastic Four, etc.

The setting is interesting in a time 5 years later after Superman leaves, and he comes back to a different times. But it's still same o Clark Kent. However he has to realize what he left behind. He has to realize the consequence of him leaving.

Brandon Routh does a great job as Superman. It reminds me Christopher Reeves. and he plays it well.

There are alot of tributes to the originals. The opening is a touch of the original shot ins. And the end always ends with Superman flying into the sun.

The plot is great! As I said, it has to do with the consequence of Superman leaving for 5 years. What happens to Lois, and what happens to Luthor. And a major impact that he has had in the world.

There is definately a crazy twist in the plot. You have to go see it.

5S out of 5S.

Its been 1 week and i'm still POed about X-Men 3

I'm still mad about X-Men 3. I think it is a dissapointment and did not do the right story. But I did have a week to think about it. So here's what I concluded.
It all started way before production. Way before writing. Where the movie went wrong was when Directory Brian Singer left X-men to do Superman Returns. Wait, I'm not blaming Director Brett Rhanter on this one. But when Singer left, he took James Marsden with him (to do Superman). Marsden was happy because he would have a bigger role in Superman Returns. But I don't think Marsden realized that this Phoenix Saga story is ABOUT Cyclops. This movie was really about Cyclops (and Jean/Phoenix). But because Marsden decided to move on, they changed the script to be about Wolverine and Phoenix, which is not what this story is about.

One complaint I heard was that there was no Protagonists for the Heros. Cyclops would have been that. The story would have revolved on how Cyclops dealt with the loss of Jean Grey. Then when she was found alive, how he deals with her resurrection. Then you throw Magneto in there, who temps Phoenix with life and emotions and feelings. And Cyclops trying to save her with love. Then in the end in order to save everyone, Cyclops kills Jean Grey to save the universe. That should have been the plot. That should have been the story.

But we are stuck with what we have. A sometimes quick, some times slow. a transition from the original cast (ProfX, Wolverine, Rogue, Storm, Cyclops, Phoenix, Magneto, Mystique, Sabretooth, and Toad) to the new cast (Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Shadowcat, and Iceman).

But this movie still is a disappointment.

My Review of X-Men 3: The Last Stand

So I saw X-Men 3 on Saturday Morning. I must say it's alot more fun in the morning because it is alot less crowded. Whew.
To Me: The movie was disappointing. But I must admit, I might have the Comic-Book byest. I know to much about the X-men to accept this movie. I do believe that the Comic book should be the foundation to the movie and there should be stories that reflect the comic book history. But, I think, the movie diviates extremely from the Comic Book Foundation.

So I'll tell you what I think and try my best to not give away the ending.
X-Men 3 deals with 2 stories: Jean Grey's resurrection and The Cure (for mutants to become normal). These 2 stories have nothing in common except that they happen at the same time. If you put the Jean Grey story in one movie and the Cure in a 2nd movie, they could stand on it's own. I felt they were trying to squeeze these two into 1 movie and it's complex.
My Second problem is that there really isn't alot of character development in the movie. All of the sudden Colossus and Shadowcat are X-Men. Rogue is an extremely minor character who is only seen in the 1st half. Jean doesn't say much, Cyclops is only around in the 1st half. Juggernaut doesn't say much, Mystique is only in the first half, Angel doesn't even join the X-Men. Alot of characters were there but you didn't know it. Psylocke, Arclight, Jubilee are listed but you wouldn't know it.
And there's Deaths. You wouldn't believe it who dies in this movie.

On the plus side it is an action movie. Lots of action and excitement. This movie is definately for the Comic book crowd. I don't believe it could stand on its own to the non-comic-book crowd. They would haveto watch #1 and #2.

Oh and there's a teaser at the end of the Credits!!! Don't forget that! it's short, but opens the door for X-Men 4 (which Fox currently confirmed). Hopefully it's better than this one...

I give it 3X out of 5X

For Spoilers head over to Spon's World later on.

Marvel Civil War & Hot Linking

Marvel Civil War has begun! Check out my page to see who is for and against the
Super-hero Registration Act

--
Moving on, there are still people hotlinking to my website. Why! Why must you make me do other things to screw around with you? WHY? Anyways, there's a page that takes 3 of my pictures and directly posts them onto their pages? Why must you do that? Why are you stealing my bandwidth? WHy WHy WHy?

So I take what every good hacker would do. Change the pictures. I first put a "watermark" on the pictures saying "Ponfamily.com" but then Matt told me, "That one picture... you worked hard to get it. you should really BLOCK it off because only we should enjoy that picture." He's right. I was in the right place right time, clicked at the right moment. So I did. I put a big black circle and some text.
Check it out here on My Site (ponfamily.com)

Screw you for taking my pictures. I think I'll go take your pictures and hot link them. but then again that'd be Eye for an Eye. I'd rather take your head instead of just your eye.

See ya, and for those of you hotlinking my pictures, SCREW YOU.

Marvel Civil War

I haven't blogged anything lately. I've been busy with work and trying not to strangle people. The Sharks are winning until their last game. It's the big push to the end. And they are almost there. TO signs in Dallas. We'll see next year.

So I'll talk about comics because I love comics. Its the next chapter in the Marvel Domino effect. Started with Avengers Disassembled, where Scarlett Witch loses her mind. Then it rolled to House of M, where the Avengers and X-Men decide her fate, but she "normalizes" 90% of the mutants. Then to Decimation, where the world adapts to not having many mutants.
And now, Marvel: Civil War. A Super-hero Registration Act leads into this story. If you have super powers, you must register yourself to the government. This is just like the Mutant Registration Act, but bigger.
The prelude issue has arrived. Many Years ago, in Post-Skrull-Kree wars, Iron Man calls Mr. Fantastic, Dr. Strange, Professor X, Black Panther, Namor, and Black Bolt. Iron Man wants to form a super hero governing body, but not everyone is on board. But they decide to at least help each other out to make major decisions.
Years later they decide to send the Hulk off the Earth. (a short side story)
And now, with Professor X missing and the Super-Hero Registration Act coming, Iron Man says that they should support this law. And he convinces Mr. Fantastic and Black Bolt to join his side. Dr. Strange objects. Namor blames the surface people for these problems. And now the sides are draw, with three heros Pro S.H.R.A.
This starts a 7-issue story beginning in May. Marvel: Civil War

DC Infinity Crisis

DC is having a major crossover. it is a sequal to Crisis on Infinite Earths. The short story is there are different Parrallel univerises. And they all colided together and only 1 earth remained, known as Earth 1. There are survivors from all the other Earths, a Superman(-2), a Lois Lane (-2), a Superboy(-2), a Alexander (Lex) Luthor(-2), and possibly another Lex Luthor(-2).
Fast forward ahead to now. In 2005 (and some in 2004), they released 4 mini-series comics:
  • The OMAC Project
  • Rann-Thanagar War
  • Villians United
  • Day of Vengence
I admit I didn't read them all. (ha!) but I started reading Infinity Crisis. Without knowing the background I might be missing some things. But what I do know is Lois Lane-2 is dying. And (eventually it is determined that) Superman-2 decides that he wants to bring back Earth-2, also because he believes Earth-1 is a failure. So he ends up bringing back all the infinite earths and causing mass choas among the superheros and people of Earth. Superboy-2 goes nuts and kills a bunch of Teen Titan Members. And finally Superman and Superman2 square off. But at the same time Lex Luthor is running around doing evil (I assume)

The finale is still 2 months away, but they are already promoting the after comics. called "1 Year After" where the comics skip forward 1 year. New teams, new members, new stories. But it will be interesting to see what happens with Superman, Batman, and Wonderwoman. There are pictures with a cape, a cowel and a lasso, meaning maybe they were lost in battle?

Crazy. I'm not much of a DC head, but it's worth a look.

X-Men: Return of Apocalypse

I haven't talked about Comics lately so I want to touch on the upcoming Return of Apocalpyse storyline.
Apocalypse is one of my favorite villians. "Survival of the Fittest" If you are weak, you are not fit for his new world.
Way before House of M. Apocalypse merged with Cyclops during "The Twelve" story line. Then Cable and Jean Grey were able to split Cyclops from Apocalypse. And without a body, Apocalypse was eliminated from existance. Fast Forward, Cyclops's attitude changed, Jean Grey eventaully dies (again), And Cable, with a purpose (to kill Apocalpyse), roams around meeting up with other characters such as Domino, X-Force, and recently Deadpool.
After house of M, Apocalpyse is BACK! and he's gathering troops as his horsemen. He captured one person name Glazer. And then he convinced Sunfire (who recently lost his legs) to become a horseman. And a rumor is that Gambit will be converted to a Horseman as well. Pestilence has already been chosen and is running amuck.
In Addition he knows that there are only a few mutants now, and they must be filtered for the strongest.
A side story involves Apocalpyse vs Dracula. That should be interesting how that works out.
Apocalpyse is supposed to destroy many things about the X-Men. Many Foundations will be tested.
I think this will be a great story comin in. So I hope it lives up to the hype. The big one was Gambit becoming a Horseman. That sucked in alot of people to see what happens with the X-men.

Comic book movies

Lo and Behold,
The X-Men 3 Trailer is out (Look on the right under "My Digg Stories"). I thought it looks really good. It kinda shows how the X-Men mourn over Jean's death. Then she comes back to life, and she looks like... well a dead person risen.

Not only that, Superman Returns Trailer is out, that came out a while ago. It is a little short, but looks good.

The Bloodrayne Trailer is out also, starring Kristiana Loken (T3, Mortal Kombat tv series) She looks HOT HOT HOT. Though I like her as a red head more. However I didn't really notice what the movie was until it was over so I'll need to see a replay soon.

DVDs
Sin City Uncut is coming out next week. Wanna check that out.

Fantastic Four came out this last weekend. It was pretty good, though there was alot of "Family Squabling" as others have said.
On the F4 DVD was an "Inside scoop" for X3 which only intriged my curiosity.

Also an "Ultimate Avengers" movie (anime) is coming out in Feb 2006, with Capt America, Iron Man, Giant Man, Thor, and Hulk on the team.

Other DVDs: Batman Season 4, when they messed up the designs of all the characters. They all look dumb except Batman. Thundercats Season 1 Volume 2 is also out. These immediately got Netflix'd :)

That's all for now, time to hit the slopes. I'll see you at the bottom of the hill.

X-Men Legends 2 - COMPLETED

Whew. We are done. Quan and I played this game for 45 hours and we have defeated X-men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse. It was a pretty good game. A good sequal to X-Men Legends (1). I wonder how they are going to follow this one up? Sinester was the last villian seen, so maybe he might go expirimental and start crossing genes and stuff.

The game play was just like XML1. Same controls, same movements. More characters, more people. Though the final battle was long, it wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be. However I am happy we defeated the game. However we had a bug with the system, probably because of the backup. It kept freezing at certain parts of the game and I dont' know why. Oh well, at least we were able to defeat the game.

So what's next for us? Well there's some catch up stuff we have to do, like sleep, and work. However I think the next one we should do is Lego Star Wars, which we started and is easy to beat. Probably a good break from the stress of XML2. Then move on to Fantastic Four. Which we never started.

Till then, stay true believers!

HOUSE OF M #7 OF 8 - SPOILERs

SPOILER ALERT You may not want to read ahead...

As promised, here's the spoiler of the whole thing. The marvel universe is fighting the House of M. when Dr. Strage finds Wanda with her "kids." He talks to her and her memories start to come back. Hawkeye tries to kill Wanda (since he found out she killed him in the previous universe), but Wanda's kids kill Hawkeye (again). So she shares the secret we've been waiting for: Who convinced her to change the universe? Peitro Maximoff. He wanted to make everyone have what they really wanted. None of his friends would be hurt anymores. As we continue on, Magneto's memories come back and he realizes what is done. He viciously attacks Quicksilver, claiming Quicksilver destroyed the universe in his name. But Wanda wouldn't have any of that, she stops Magneto, saying even in a perfect world Magneto is still a horrible person. So she changes the world again. But this time she says: "No More Mutants"
- What will happen next? How will the former mutants survive? And where IS Professor Xavier (he still was not found)?
ON TO ISSUE 8!!!

House of M #7 of 8

I literally just put down House of M #7 and it was off the hook!!!
It reveals who started the House of M. And the consequences when everyone realizes who started it and what has happened. And the final words changed EVERYTHING. It'll be interesting to see what happens in Issue #8. I'll come back later to reveal, so that It's not given away. But it is huge! I hope #8, being the resolution, doesn't let us down...

Marvel (comics) The House of M

We're entering the last month of House of M story line that crosses over (Astonishing) X-Men and (New) Avengers.
Summary of Events: If you blinked, you missed alot. Without too much detail (I hope) heres the prelude:
  1. Wanda Maximoff, using her power to change probability, creates 2 children. But when confronted with her "imaginary kids" she goes MAD.
  2. Avengers 500-503, she goes beserk, killing her teammates and causing her team, the Avengers, to disband. Magneto (her father) appears and takes her away to get help.
  3. Magneto and Professor X fail to help her. Dr. Strange, who understands Wanda's powers, also fails.
  4. The (New) Avengers and the (Astonishing) X-Men are called together to decide her fate, continue to help, or put her tormented soul to rest. But before that can happen, she turns up missing (after a visit from her dad and brother (Quicksilver)).
  5. BLINK BLINK and Wanda's powers are used to recreate the entire universe. The Mutants are the dominat species, and normal Humans are the minority. and the leadership is the "House of M" people referred this to be the "House of Magneto" or "House of Magnus"
HOUSE OF M. It's the main story is is worth all 8 issues (only 6 are out so far). Basically, Wolverine wakes up in another life and discovers (somehow) everything is wrong, he runs into a kid who knows the same thing, except she is a psycic who can fix people's minds. so they, along with Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and others go around fixing people's minds, like Emma Frost, Cyclops, Daredevil, and others. This is the best story out of House of M.
So they spun off all these issues:
  • House of M: Spiderman - Spider-man poses as a mutant until J Johnason reveals he is a human bit by a spider. This story is interesting, however I think it is a "flash back story" not impacting the present.
  • House of M: Iron Man - Another flashback story on how the Humans are resisting the mutants.
  • House of M: Fantastic Four - Dr. Doom's Fearsome Four; and how Dr. Doom tried to take over the House of M, but loses his family instead.
  • Uncanny X-Men - I don't know how this plays into everything, Capt. Britian gets pulled into a universe and Psylocke and Marvel Girl are along for the ride. This story sucks right now.
  • Incredible Hulk - he becomes a leader of some island. but turns out Magneto wanted him to be the leader. It is "HINTED" that the Hulk will turn on Magneto. It almost sounds like the US/Saddam Hussain situation... crazy huh?
  • Mutopia X - I dont understand this one. it really does suck. Following Bishop around. Who cares?
  • Cable/Deadpool - Even MORE POINTLESS. They're jumping through dimensions and so happen to fall into the House of M dimension. Then they leave. BIG WHOOP!
  • I haven't touched a few of them: New X-Men, Black Panther, New Thunderbolts. These are beginning to waste my time.
  • The one I want, however haven't gotton, is the Capt. America #10. They had a touching moment in HoM, where they were about to fix his mind, however Capt America was over 80 yrs old, in this world not been frozen over time (like the original timeline).
All in all, this storyline is supposed to change the entire universe. It still can. It will be different. However all these stories seem to be pointless at times. And I'm wasting my money on pointless stories.

The big question out of all of this is: Who is behind the House of M? Here is my Guess... Ready?
Pietro Maximoff aka QUICKSILVER
The "M" in House of M doesn't stand for Magneto or Magnus. It stands for Maximoff. Pietro is over protective of his sister and will do anything to stop anyone from killing her. so he manipulates his sister to recreate the world.

I guess we'll see at the end of October (unless it gets pushed back again)...
