Russell: $30Mil garenteed or else!

Jamarcus Russell, 1st over all pick of the Raiders, said he wants a $30Million Dollar Gaurentee contract to play for the Raiders.

And you thought Alex Smith's $24 Million Gaurenteed Contract was alot.

It's the price you pay for being the WORST TEAM and drafting the BEST PLAYER. It is alot of money for someone who has no Professional Experience. And, unless the NFL and NFLPA step in to regulate, I don't see how the prices will get lower. It almost handicaps the "worst team" because they probably have bad attendance, and can't pay that much money. It was one of the theories in why Reggie Bush wasn't drafted by the Texans.

So I say, GIVE HIM THE MONEY. Then cut your starting offensive line. Put the reserves in. We'll see how he does. Tell him, "we had to cut the offensive line so we can sign you to this contract."

At the same time, I do believe that because you are the #1 pick overall, you deserve to have more money than the #2 pick. But it is alot of money to someone who does not have the experience or background, and entering a new playing field.

But you lack the track record of someone like Alex Rodrigez, who is the best baseball player today. He has a track record and deserves alot of money. Or Tom Brady, 3 Superbowls, an established winner. Give him money.

But until someone sets the rules down on the #1 draft pick, I can only see the Dollar figure going up every year, until NFL stops it, or someone has to pay the price for it.
