Brad Watson becomes #1 hated ref in San Jose; Sharks Lose
In a game Jan 6, 2007 Brad Watson made the biggest mistake of his referee career. With 2 Blue Jackets in the penalty box, Watson let out the wrong guy (he had matching penalties with a Shark Player). This gave the Sharks a 2nd power play on 1 penalty. OOPS! the Sharks scored on that "Power Play".
Take it a few days later, Jan 10, 2007: Sharks vs Edmonton. Brad Watson knows he screwed up. so what does he do, he calls EVERYTHING against the Sharks. Granted, some of them were real penalties, but Edmonton was committing penalties and getting away with it. One non-called penalty led to a goal. Edmonton got 7 straight Power Plays.
Was this a way for Watson to redeem himself? Well I'm sure he hasn't. I'm sure he's screwed still. This will carry with him at least the rest of the year. The NHL will look at this and most likely remove him from officiating a playoff games this year. Whatever the case, this referee can not be taken seriously and definitely not be taken seriously here in the Shark Tank.

Brad Watson is the #1 hated ref in Detroit tonight. Called off a goal because he lost sight of the puck. would have gone to overtime, but now the Ducks are up 2-1 in the series.

I actually can't believe I am agreeing with a shark fan as i am a redwing fan myself...but he absolutely blew the game for detroit tonight and he should never be allowed to ref another game

The guy should retire. He's either incredibly incompetent or evil. I'm a Sharks fan, but what he did to the Red Wings is absolutely unforgivable.
Not to mention that NHL's rule is brain dead. A few minor points that even the rules committee should be able to understand:
1. The puck was in the net before the whistle blew.
2. This means that there was no possibility that the "intent" of the referee could have changed the outcome of the play.
3. This has given the NHL a black eye. It is stupid and arbitrary to take this goal away from Detroit. Just makes everyone look corrupt.

Wow. I'm glad people agree! Watson needs to go to the minors to work on his craft. ha
